Adult Education programs support Rhode Island adults in gaining skills and credentials for employment, citizenship, and family and community leadership. #PREKthroughLIFE

 

Who can take Adult Education classes?

  • Rhode Islanders age 18 and older who want to:

    • Complete their GED or high school equivalency.

    • Get job training to change careers or move up in their current role.

    • Improve their English language skills.

    • Prepare for United States citizenship.

    • Increase their digital literacy and computer skills.

Rhode Islanders age 16 and 17 years old who have an approved Alternative Learning Plan (ALP) from their school district of residence may enroll in High School Certificate/GED preparation courses.

The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) funds a network of 19 organizations that offer five types of programs for adult learners:

  • Adult Education

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

  • High School Certificate/GED

  • Job Skills Training

  • Pre-Citizenship
